Aston Villa are the latest club to be linked with a summer move for Dean Henderson.

The Villa Park club have identified the Cumbrian as a potential replacement for Emiliano Martinez, Football Insider have reported.

Villa's reported interest is the latest twist ahead of what is widely expected to be a summer when Henderson moves on from Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old from Whitehaven is spending this season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

He is unlikely to be satisfied with returning to Man Utd and being second-choice again to David de Gea.

If the Red Devils opt to cash in on Henderson it is likely to see a race for his services from a number of clubs.

Forest have been linked with a permanent approach for the ex-Carlisle United academy player, while reports have also credited Tottenham Hotspur with an interest in Henderson.

The prospect of a big-money summer move will be of great interest to Carlisle, who stand to benefit from a sell-on clause following his move from the Blues' academy in 2011.

The Athletic recently reported that two unnamed clubs had approached Man Utd to inform them of their interest in a permanent deal for Henderson.

The England international, who is currently out with a thigh injury, has returned to first-team football in the Premier League with Forest this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions so far.

He also earned a recall to the England squad early in the campaign.

Football Insider say Argentinian World Cup winner Martinez is attracting interest from major European clubs such as Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Juventus.
