Carlisle bare-knuckle boxing champion Danny Christie looks set to fight for the world title later this year.

The Currock fighter has hinted at the likely details of his impending shot at the global BKFC crown.

Christie has earned a crack at the world light-heavyweight title after defeating Anthony Holmes to win the UK belt.

He is now set to take on top American fighter Lorenzo Hunt.

And an autumn fight in London appears to be on the cards, according to Christie.

Details have not been officially confirmed but Christie, speaking on his YouTube channel, said: “We’re going for the world title in November. I think it’s in London.

“Come November, I’ll have knocked the world champion out and I’ll be recognised as the light heavyweight world champion in BKFC.

“It’s going to be some story when it’s all over, and I’m very excited about it.”

Christie said he is glad the fight is looking like being in this country as he cast doubt on whether he would be allowed into the USA to fight.

“It will save me going to the embassy and getting knocked back, because chances are that’s what would happen,” he added.

“I’ve got 33 convictions for drugs and violence, witness intimidation and all this stuff.

“I know people with a lot less on their record that haven’t got into America.”

Christie, who has been clean for more than a year, has made an impressive impact on the BKFC scene with victories in his first three fights.

After defeating Terry Brazier and Darren Godfrey last year, he knocked out former world champion Holmes in Leeds in April.

The 38-year-old is now ranked among the best fighters in the world in his division.

Looking ahead to the world title fight, he said: “I still don’t think I’ve had the right opponent to look good.

“Anthony Holmes is a very difficult man to look good against. He spoils a lot. Just when you get to where you need to be on him he’ll tie you up or spoil fights with his movement, using his head – he’s very clever but very difficult to look good against.

“The next opponent, I feel I can shine against. I feel I can knock him out.

“Very different tactics are going to be used in this fight.”
