Carlisle United fans are being invited to donate to the city's foodbank at this Saturday's home game.

The Blues' official supporters' club are holding a collection between 1.15pm and 2.45pm.

It will take place in the CUOSC supporters' surgery in the study centre at Brunton Park before the Cheltenham match.

The fans' group said they are holding the collection after the Carlisle Foorbank reported a higher than normal requirement for donations.

CUOSC representative Billy Atkinson said: “Our last foodbank collection received a fantastic response and we are hoping for more of the same.

"It appears that demand is high at the moment from people who really need help, and it's fantastic that United fans will be doing their bit this weekend."

The following items will be accepted: milk (UHT or powdered), small sugar (500g), long life fruit juice (carton), packet soup, pasta sauces (tin, jar or packet), sponge pudding (tinned), custard (tinned or packet instant), tomatoes (tinned), cereals, rice pudding (tinned), small box tea bags / small instant coffee, instant mashed potato, rice, tinned meat/fish, tinned fruit & vegetables, tinned spaghetti, tinned ravioli, jam/marmalade, biscuits or snack bars, pot noodles, toilet rolls, deodorants, shampoo, soap, nappies, baby wipes, household cleaning products.
