PAUL Simpson has revealed details of 'really positive' talks that took place with the Piatak family after his side defeated Burton Albion on Tuesday.

Carlisle's potential new American owners were in attendance as the Blues beat the Brewers, with Tom Piatak Snr. and his wife Patty Piatak watching on from the director's box at Brunton Park.

Speaking ahead of his side's trip to Cambridge this weekend, Simpson detailed the 'really positive' talks but admitted that there are still some 'hurdles' that must be overcome before the takeover can be completed.

He said: "I spoke to them briefly on Tuesday night and I had a conversation with them on Wednesday.

"Everything seems really positive at the moment, everything seems to be going along nicely, I think there are still a few hurdles to jump over but from what I am told we are hopeful that everything will get resolved and their plans and ideas are really exciting and hopefully should improve the football club even more.

Simpson also explained his role in the takeover and discussed what he hopes the Piatak family can potentially bring to Brunton Park.

"I wouldn't say I have been really involved but they are running things past me, I think a lot of discussions go on and then they come to me," He said.

"There may be some more discussions over the next couple of days if they get a spare five minutes where I want to talk to them about how I think we can improve it on the football side because I want everything to improve in terms of the experience supporters get but I also want to make sure we make it right for the footballers."

"I want to make sure we don't just focus on the infrastructure outside of the players, we also have to make sure it is right for what goes on on the football pitch.

Tom Piatak Snr., speaking to the News and Star last month had said that there was optimism that a deal could be concluded between October 14-20.

This window has now passed but the Blues boss believes that the takeover could be completed in the next 'few weeks'.

He said: "It will happen as soon as everything is completed and we are hoping that will be over the next few weeks but these things take time they are not simple transactions and there are one or two things that still need to be resolved."
