CARLISLE'S Green Room club is holding auditions for the comedy-drama Closer ahead of next year's production.

The play, which was first performed 25 years ago, is a look at four individuals' private lives across two years, often woven together with love and lust.

A spokesperson for Carlisle Green Room Club on social media said: "First performed a quarter century ago, Closer has since become an object of desire, in its own right, for theatre students in the UK and beyond.

"A successful film version followed but it is at its best in a live theatre setting as intimate as the moments portrayed.

"We are delighted to bring it to the Green Room.

"Everyone will be given a chance to read individually - please get in touch to book a slot or simply turn up for ‘first come, first served’," they said.

Auditions, which will involve individual readings, will take place on October 24 from 7pm to 9pm and October 28 from 10 am to 12 noon at the West Walls Theatre bar.

Aspiring actors may reach out to Mitch Ralley at  msralley@yahoo.co.uk for any questions, ideas, or to book an audition slot.

The performance is set to run in February next year.
