THE beloved television personality, Helen Skelton, made a triumphant return to her Cumbrian roots as part of her new book tour at the Old Fire Station. 

The event gave fans offered fans a meet and greet as well as the opportunity to nab a signed copy of her new memoir In My Stride: Lessons Learned Through Life and Adventure. 

Skelton, known for her appearances on shows such as Blue Peter, Countryfile, SAS Who Dares Wins, and Strictly Come Dancing, gave an insight into the book which details how her deep connection with nature has played a pivotal role in her life, helping her find resilience and navigate through challenging times.

Old Fire Station managing director, Will Morgan, said: "Helen was an absolute delight and, it was really interesting to hear about her journey from starting at Radio Cumbria to her globe-trotting adventures."

Ahead of the book being released, Skelton said on social media: "Turns out getting older is okay, because you learn a lot along the way. 

"I hope it makes you ponder," she wrote.

The Cumbrian icon will be moving on to Ilkley Literature Festival on October 22 as well as Kendal Mountain Festival on November 16. 

In My Stride is out now and is available through all major book retailers. 

Following Skelton's visit, Carlisle's Old Fire Station has a 'jammed packed' events listing still to come before the year is out.

“The Old Fire Station is going from strength to strength, we have an insanely jammed packed programme of events with roughly 20 different shows each month," Will said.

"We are also moving quite a few of the cancelled Sands Centre shows that were scheduled for 2024 into our programme.

"These will all be announced very shortly so keep an eye open for them," he said. 

In the weeks to come, the venue will bring to the stage a sold-out Lawrence Chaney, The Rezillos, renowned Queen Tribute band The Bohemians as well as Scottish indie-rockers, The View.
