A Carlisle shopping centre is set to install its new cashless parking system 'this week' as details of the changes are revealed.
The Lanes Shopping Centre announced that it would be implementing a cashless system in its multi-story car park on Lowther Street in September on social media.
The announcement of the changes prompted the raising of a number of concerns by the local community. However, in a social media update on Monday, October 9, the Lanes confirmed that its new car park system was set to be installed 'this week'.
This comes as new details surrounding the changes have also been revealed.

Entry barriers to the car park will no longer issue entry tickets and are set to be replaced by an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system which will record a vehicle's registration plate on arrival.
Customers are then asked to 'take note of your registration number' and input this into the pay machine before exiting, where a tariff will be calculated.
Once the installation of the new system has been completed the car park pay machines will also only accept contactless payments.
The Lanes Shopping Centre were approached for comment.
