No matter how remote you are in the UK, there’s usually a picturesque boozer nearby.

Cumbria is far from short on picturesque pubs, boasting a bristling catalogue of charming boozers that you can enjoy a quiet pint in.

However, one has been singled out above all else.

Which UK country pubs are officially the prettiest? Well, house rental company Big House Experience analysed Instagram hashtag data for over 200 country pubs that were described as ‘beautiful’ in reputable publications over the past two years.

And the winner for the prettiest pub in the UK was The Gunton Arms in Norfolk. Surrounded by vast fields full of deer, the Gunton’s insides are full of lovely dark wood and earthy decor, as well as art pieces by Damien Hirst and Lucian Freud.

In second place was The Gurnard’s Head in Cornwall, thanks to its glorious sea views of the Cornish coastline, while third was Cumbria's own The Punch Bowl, nestled in the rolling hills of the Lake District.

"Its sumptuous bedrooms have a wealth of thoughtful extras, and imaginative food is served in the elegant restaurant or in the rustic-style bar with its open fires.
