WHILST most Carlisle fans will be getting the train or bus down to Wembley, one avid supporter has decided to pedal his way down south with the wind in his sails.

Graham Moss, from Maryport, has embarked on a 320-mile cycle from his home in Great Corby, fuelled by hopes of watching a potentially historic moment in which the Blues defeat Stockport County in the play-off final on Sunday, May 28.

“You mean there’s not hundreds of people cycling to Wembley?,” Graham laughed.

Setting out on May 24, the father looks like he will make the match with plenty of time to spare.

Graham, who will meet with his son Christopher in London ahead of the game, set himself a target of gaining around 100 miles a day.

At the time of speaking to the News & Star, he had just arrived in Leicester on day two of his journey, leaving him with about 100 miles left to go.

“All going well, I plan to cycle down to London tomorrow, but I’ve given myself an extra day just in case.

“It’s slightly more miles than it should be because I’ve managed to get lost a few times.

"The route I’m doing is about 320 miles – hitting about 100 miles a day.

“I’m okay, the bike’s behaving itself. I do quite a bit of cycling, but I’ve never done anything quite like this – I’ve always wanted to do it and thought: here’s the reason.

“I’m not cycling back before you ask, I’ll be on the train,” he said.

Graham, who is a self-admitted 'borderline illegal' Workington and Carlisle fan, said he’s feeling confident ahead of the fixture.

I watched Workington go up this year and hopefully, I’ll also be watching Carlisle do the same.

"I’m more confident than I was, they almost literally limped into the playoffs, they weren’t the same team they were at the beginning of the season but I think they got their mojo back against Bradford on both legs.

“If they play as they did, I’m confident,” he said.
