Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer Danny Christie is set to get a world title shot if he wins his big fight this weekend.

Currock man Christie takes on Anthony Holmes in a top-of-the-bill clash in Leeds on Saturday night.

And the 38-year-old says he will get a crack at American star Lorenzo Hunt if he prevails in the light-heavyweight fight in Yorkshire.

It is only Christie’s third fight in the major BKFC bare-knuckle scene but he has impressed fight experts with his victories over Terry Brazier and Darren Godfrey.

The opportunity to fight for a world title belt is now on the horizon for the powerful puncher.

“As far as the UK goes this is the pinnacle of bare-knuckle,” said Christie. “I’m so pleased the promoters have given me this opportunity after two fights.

“We’ve moved up to the top of the bill at Leeds, and the winner’s off to America to fight Lorenzo Hunt.

“The last time time I spoke to Dave Feldman, the BKFC president, he said I was one win away from a world title shot.

“True to his word, it’s been announced as an official world title eliminator.

“I couldn’t be more pleased. This is what dreams are made of.”

Christie will have to overcome home favourite Holmes in his own back yard at BKFC 40 Leeds.

The experienced Yorkshireman, from Castleford, is a top name in British bare-knuckle boxing and a former world champion in BKB TM before switching his attentions to the BKFC promotion.

The 38-year-old has four wins and a draw from his BKFC bouts so far.
