A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The glass smashing in this video is as a result of a number of aerosol containers directly adjacent to the fire exploding, which caused a build-up of pressure inside the room which in turn, has caused the window to smash.”

The video, which contains a time stamp showing 12.13am, reveals a quiet Carlisle street complete with a strolling cat.

Moments later, debris flies out into the street from a house, followed by a cry for help. The cat bolts.

According to the fire service, three fire engines attended the fire, on Osborne Avenue, which involved the kitchen of a domestic property and firefighters at the scene used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel.

Cumbria Police logs show that police were called to the scene at 12.20am, and officers assisted with the temporary evacuation of nearby homes.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and there are not believed to be any injuries.

Following the explosion, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service also called for local homeowners to be aware of potential fire risks.
