A WOMAN has been banned from contacting her mother for six months after assaulting her and causing damage to garden furniture.

Michelle Yule, 44, was at her mother’s home address in Maryport on July 9 last year when the assault and damage took place, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Lee Dacre, prosecuting, said there was an argument and Yule had scratched and grabbed her mother, who then told her to leave.

Yule then threw solar lights around and damaged a deckchair outside the property.

Police were contacted and the defendant was arrested. Cannabis was also recovered from Yule, which was for her own personal use.

Mr Dacre said the victim had requested a restraining order be put in place as there had been several incidents.

Yule, care of The Arches, Maryport, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property under £5,000, possessing a Class B drug and assault by beating.

John Cooper, defending, said: “She has got a brain injury that has affected her behaviour over time.

“She is a lady who is clearly quite vulnerable.

“I think the only issue is the restraining order.”

Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Yule was also ordered to pay £40 in compensation to her victim.

A restraining order was granted, which bans her from having any contact with the victim or going to a named street in Maryport, for six months.

An order was made for forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
