Further to a warning issued last week, a post office is once again issuing a similar warning for this month.

The Alston Post Office serves the small, isolated town straddling Cumbria and Northumberland, and due to the strike action being taken by members of the Communications Workers Union, who work for the Royal Mail and Parcelforce.

There will be disruptions to letters and parcel services, as well as delays in processing bank cheque deposits on two dates this month.

These are September 8 and 9.

A spokesperson from Alston Post Office said: “Timed delivery guarantees will be suspended for items sent the day before, during strike action, and until services are back to normal.

“Please post items as early as possible.

“There may be circumstances where we are unable to accept your letters or parcels on the day.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.”

Over 115,000 postal workers are involved in a series of strikes in the coming weeks in a dispute over pay, the Communication Workers Union has confirmed.

The Communication Workers Union has said that it will be the biggest strike of the summer so far to demand a “dignified, proper pay rise”
