CARLISLE is the tonic to Cumbria Distilling Company's gin.

The distilling company, which is the only spirit distillers operating in Carlisle, was started in 2017 - originally down in Manchester, by Carlisle-raised owners, Paul and Becky Carruthers.

The business was birthed out of a hedonistic pursuit and adoration for all things gin.

The duo, who both work for the NHS, decided a move back to the hometown was a must to spend time with family and friends, bringing with them the loving stills that led the creation of Carlisle Gin.

Business development manager, Mike Little, who started with the company earlier this year said: "I love being involved in all parts of the business such as labelling, bottling but going out and meeting new people, I love selling but what I love even more is providing good customer service and that's what we're striving for.”

The thirst-quenching produce offers everything in the way of trendy gin markets these days, whether it be their classic London dry gin (‘made how gin used to be’), blood orange and lime or their twist on the ever-popular pink gin (made up of raspberry and passionfruit)  -  there is certainly a sauce for everyone.

"We will be launching Carlisle Vodka towards the latter of part of the year and by popular request we'll be doing a very limited Carlisle Christmas gin - a cranberry and spiced orange mix, with some golden flakes throughout," he said.

It’s all go for the business with big plans on the horizon – including a TV advert.

"Our plan next year is to release our primary and national appeal brand, we'll be releasing our main bespoke Lake District themed gin, under the Cumbria Distilling Company."

A gin which Mike assures us is 'absolutely delicious'.

And to grab yourself a nip, you can pick up a bottle from popular retailers including Pioneer Foodstores or why not try it out as you float from bar to bar in Carlisle, as it’s held on shelves in The Last Zebra; Halston Hotel and Coco Mill to name a few.

The Carlisle brand, which aims to be a ‘brand for the people’, has adopted the hashtag #WeareCumbrian – which can be shared when out and about tasting their crisp libations, with the likelihood of your post being shared by the business.

#CapturingthetruespiritofCumbria can also be used on their Lake focused products.
