TRAFFIC was paused on the Castle Way road in Carlisle earlier today to allow service personnel and veterans to cross for an annual service.
Castle Street and access to the Cathedral was closed for a very brief period just before 1pm and just after 2pm as service personnel and veterans - complete with marching band - made the short march from Carlisle Castle to the Cathedral and back.

In a statement before the event Carlisle Cathedral said: "We welcome back the annual service for the Duke of Lancaster's Regimental Association.
"This service gives thanks to all those who have served in the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, as well as in previous incarnations, including The King's Own Royal Border Regiment, The King's Regiment and The Queen's Lancashire Regiment."
