IT'S time to get out and shrug off those 'blue Monday' feelings and we've got just the list for it.

Here are our top ten things to do ahead of the weekend in Carlisle.

3. Ever feel that when you join a pub quiz, the only questions you know the answer is during the music round? Well if so, The Brickyard Music Quiz on Friday could be your forte, offering prizes up for grabs.

4. Calling all cult-horror fans out there, all week, The Vue Cinema in the city centre will be showing back to back viewings of the latest instalment of the Scream franchise.

5. The Thin White Duke is a great shout for good hearty grub, offering a delectable burger selection and perfectly suited ales to match. Also, an ideal spot to consider for your Sunday roast needs.

6. Tickle-me, sixty-three. The cultural hub, Tribe, is putting on a bingo extravaganza this Saturday coming, with the event scheduled for 6.30 – is lady luck on your side?

7. Slightly outside of Carlisle but well worth a visit this weekend, is the launch event of Hadrian's Wall at Bowness-on-Solway on Saturday. The event will mark the heritage sites 1900 birthday, including a day full of live performances and stories that date the wall's history.

8. Support Eden Valley Hospice by attending the Sounds For Sue event at the Old Fire station on Saturday night. It will be an evening to remember in memory of journalist Sue Crawford, with the aid of four great live acts to mark the occasion.

9. Put your mental and physical wellbeing at the forefront of this week by taking a stroll through Rickerby Park. You'll be feeling tranquil amongst the scenic sites along the banks of the River Eden.

10. Whilst talking about wellbeing, there's no better place for it than sauna and steam room. Why not take a dip into Bannatyne's Gym for this or perhaps the more traditional Victorian bath houses, you will undoubtedly leave feeling refreshed and energised heading into the last week of January.
