Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt believes Carlisle United could easily have more points to their name in League One this season.

And the manager of the Blues’ opponents has also called on the Trotters fans to respond to Carlisle’s “huge” away support this weekend.

The game at the Toughsheet Community Stadium sees Evatt’s third-placed side take on Paul Simpson’s 20th-placed Blues.

United will have about 4,500 fans making the trip and, assessing the game, Evatt said: “It starts with a huge away following, they are coming down with a lot of numbers and will want to see their team do well.

“That makes things challenging for us, but our fans have been incredible and I’m sure they will be signing at the top of their voices to help us.

“They are a team who probably haven’t picked up the points they have warranted.

“I have watched them quite a few times now and they have been in most games, the games have been tight.

“They will probably feel like they have left a few points out there so this isn’t going to be an easy game, especially on the back of two physical games for us.

“We have to reset, be energetic again and do what we can to get the three points before we can freshen some people up.”

Bolton have won their last three games in all competitions and are widely regarded as strong promotion contenders.

Evatt, though, believes the Trotters’ fancied status brings its own challenges.

“In this division, I think we are seen as one of the biggest and best teams which is credit to us," the former Barrow manager told the Bolton News.

“There is a target on our back but if we want to achieve the ambitions we have set ourselves, we have to embrace that challenge.”

Bolton have frontman Victor Adeboyejo back from injury this weekend.

But ex-Carlisle defender Gethin Jones is suspended while Paris Maghoma, Carlos Mendes Gomes and George Johnston are injured.
