A boy on a roof, chip pan fire and chimney fire give Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service crews a busy day across the county.

Firefighters is Carlisle, Wigton, Whitehaven, Frizington, Lazonby and Brampton all attended calls yesterday.

The first call was to a chimney on fire Croglin, near Armathwaite, at 4.08pm. Fire engines from Brampton and Lazonby were mobilised and the fire was extinguished using chimney gear, height safety pack a 12m ladder. A thermal imaging camera was used to check the roof for fire.

At 8pm fire engines from Carlisle west and Wigton station were called out to reports of a boy on a roof in West Woodside, near Wigton. Police were also called to the incident. The crews managed to bring him down to safety.

Finally at 11.45pm two fire engines from Whitehaven and Frizington attended a fire on Coronation Drive in Frizington involving a chip pan in kitchen of terraced property.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal image camera to bring the fire under control. Oxygen therapy had to be given to one person who was suffering from smoke inhalation.
