Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer Danny Christie is still ranked as one of the main contenders for a world title shot despite suffering defeat in his last fight.

The Currock man is rated third in the latest BKFC light-heavyweight rankings.

World champion Lorenzo Hunt leads the way, with his leading challenger now Jared Warren, who defeated Christie in Leeds in November.

Christie, the British champion, is rated the next best on the light-heavyweight list, ahead of Isaac Doolittle, Josh Dyer and Tony Jenkins.

The Carlisle fighter lost his undefeated BKFC record in November when he was beaten by American Warren.

The setback at BKFC 55 Leeds came after Christie had impressively defeated Terry Brazier, Darren Godfrey and Anthony Holmes, the latter victory earning the Cumbrian the UK title belt.

After losing to Warren, Christie said he would be considering his future but has since confirmed he intends to continue fighting on the BKFC scene in 2024.

He said he is coming to the end of his fighting career but, speaking on his YouTube channel, said: "If this is my last year, I want to go out with a bang.

"The results are no longer important. What's important, whilst training and fighting, is having fun."

Another Cumbrian fighter hoping for a big year in BKFC is Egremont's Agi Faulkner.

He impressed on his first two outings in the heavyweight division.

At Leeds in November the west Cumbrian defeated Welsh boxer Rob Cunningham.

That followed a victory over Daniel Robson in Newcastle the previous year.
