THE Maryport Blues Festival may be cancelled, but the show must go on.

In its place, and taking over the trail element of the festival, will be Maryport Live - four days of music, taking place across seven venues in the town.

A strong mix of local and visiting rock and blues acts features across the list of gigs, all of which will be offering free entry.

Two live performances on Thursday 26 get the event under way: Thin Lizzy covers band Five and Dangerous perform live at Maryport Navy Club; and Teesside rock trio Roadstunner visit the Lifeboat Inn.

Friday evening's entertainment again begins at the Navy Club with Cumbrian soul stars Soul Junction, followed by blues act Secure Unit.

The Lifeboat Inn welcomes South Cumbrian rockers The Thieving Magpies, the Labour Club has local favourites Broken English, and The Butchers Arms will see a performance by The Mustangz Trio, while Five And Dangerous are back for a set at Netherhall Old Boys Rugby Club, and Roadstunner head over to The Phoenix Tap.

A busy weekend line-up has Saturday afternoon sets from The Mustangz Trio and Just Jock at The Lifeboat Inn, Early Mac Band and The Buyers Club at the Labour Club, Chasin' The Train at Netherhall Old Boys, and both Gage and Pot Luck featuring at the Navy Club.
Dean Newton plays with various bands over the weekend

Moving into Saturday evening, and every venue is involved: The Lifeboat Inn hosts Fireball as its headliners, with Stevie D at the Labour Club, a disco at The Butchers Arms, Just Steve at Maryport Bowling Club, The Thieving Magpies at The Phoenix Tap, AWOL at Netherhall Old Boys, and Used Blues and The Mustangz Trio wrapping up a busy day at the Navy Club.

There's barely a let-up on Sunday afternoon either, with all bar one venue staging performances.

AWOL get things under way at the Navy Club, followed by The Misfitz and Collision; Early Mac Band and the Dean Newton Trio have afternoon sets at The Lifeboat Inn; Purple Haze and The Mustangz Trio visit the Labour Club; The Buyers Club play at The Butchers Arms; The Mustangz Trio are at Maryport Bowling Club; and Stoney Broke and the Holborn Hillbillies complete the action at Netherhall Old Boys.
