Abbie Scott, from Keswick, has been named in the England starting line-up for tomorrow's World Cup Final.

With the Red Roses and New Zealand set to battle it out for the World Cup crown at Kingspan Stadium in Belfast (7.45pm kick-off, ITV One), Cumbrian Scott has retained her place in the side for the showdown match.

England women's head coach Simon Middleton has made just the one change to the starting XV from the team that won the semi-final against France 20-3.

With Danielle Waterman ruled out with concussion, Emily Scarratt moves to full-back and Megan Jones comes in. She takes her place at outside centre.

But the forwards remain unchanged with semi-final Player of the Match Sarah Bern starting alongside Vickii Cornborough and Amy Cokayne in the front row.

Playing in her fourth World Cup final, Tamara Taylor remains in the second row with Cumbrian Scott. The back row sees Alex Matthews and Marlie Packer retain their starting positions, with Sarah Hunter captaining the side at No.8.

“Our goal was to get to this point in the tournament, using the full breadth of the squad and rotating players to ensure we were in the best possible position to peak tomorrow," Middleton said.

"The strength in depth of this squad and the quality across all 28 players has meant we have been able to do just that.

"We have full confidence in this squad. As a group they have consistently delivered quality performances throughout the tournament.

"It’s now about finishing the job and leaving nothing out on the field tomorrow night."

Former Keswick School and Sedbergh School student Scott, who plays for Darlington Mowden Park, has started all of England’s games, except the group-stage success over Italy as the Red Roses rotated their squad.

Champions England will be aiming to defend their World Cup crown, which they won in 2014 when they beat Canada 21-9 in Paris in that final.
