“ I am very disappointed as I think we just stopped playing at half-time,” said the Haven coach who watched on as his side, leading 26-10 at the break, went down 32-26.
“ I think the lads thought it would be the same in the second half and Swinton would just lie down.
“ But they are not that kind of side to give up and they’ve been consistent all season. We were foolish to think that and we talked about it in the dressing room at half-time but we didn’t put it into action,” he added.
“ We were giving away too many penalties in the first half and were giving them good metres. Luckily they weren’t scoring from our errors and I thought we made the most of our chances and scored some good tries to get us in a strong position at half-time.
“ Come the second half, our completion rate dropped but we were still giving away penalties and they started to make us pay for some of them making good breaks and scoring.
“ But we were still creating chances of our own and James Newton was held up once and then I thought we were unlucky not to score when we kicked through and scored over the line but were penalised for off-side at the kick,” said Coyle.
“ We were still in it in the last few minutes when we won the one-on-one near their line but they managed to intercept one of our passes and went away and scored, giving us little time to fight back.
“ I will be looking at the video during the week and preparing the side to play Featherstone next week and hopefully get some points.”
