Hensingham are still the only side in the Cumbria Men’s League who can boast a 100 per cent record.

They collected their fifth win when they saw-off the challenge of their old Cumberland ARL rivals Ellenborough 34-16.

Former Workington Town half-back Marc Bainbridge led the way with a hat-trick of tries and five conversions for a 22-point haul.

Hensingham, who led 16-4 at half-time, scored their other tries through Ben Rogerson, Jamie Martin and Liam Campbell.

Shane Ackerley, recently released by Whitehaven, was on the score-sheet for Ellenborough along with former Flimby winger Luke Penrice and Jason Graham. Michael Hill put over two conversions.

Reigning champions Distington are four points behind Hensingham, also from five matches, and they proved too strong for Seaton.

It had been a tight first half, with Distington only leading 6-0 at the break, but they went well clear in the second period to win 30-0.

Jordan Scott, Daniel Park, Jack Penrice, Nicky Cook and Liam McNicholas scored the Distington tries, all of which were converted by Scott George.

Wath Brow have been slipping after a bright start to the season but they returned to winning ways with a 46-10 home win over Ulverston.

They virtually had the game won by half-time when they opened-up a 28-0 lead.

Dale Bell (2), Owen McCartney, Dave Pettit, Ryan Amor, Sam Curwen, Clark Riley and Matt Dibbart scored the tries. Curwen kicked seven goals.

In reply, Ulverston scored tries through Jos Rankin and Steve O’Connor with one converted by Connor Saunders.

Glasson produced one of their best performances of the season to beat Walney Central 28-23.

They had trailed 18-8 at the break before storming back for a thrilling victory.

Gary Taylor (2), Josh Jones, Byron Burns, Gary Tierney and Luke Jackson crossed for the Glasson tries. Lee Birks and Dan Barker each added a conversion.

For Walney there were tries from Brad Nicholls, Jason McMullen, Matt Elliot and Jake Deveraux. Two were converted by Jordan Stafferi and one by Elliot. Stafferi also added a drop goal.

In the Iggesund Cumberland ARL, Cockermouth have gone two points clear at the top after winning 29-21 at their nearest rivals, Egremont Rangers.

Dan Telford (2), Lee Rogers and James Newton scored the Egremont tries with a conversion each by Pat Bennet and Joe Bold. In addition, Bold landed a drop goal.

The try scorers for Cockermouth were Matthew Skillen, Matthew Jackson, Nathaniel May, Scott Burgess and Jonathon Goulding. Gareth Skillen (3) and Craig Foster added conversions while Foster also put over a drop goal.

Kells A are in third place after beating the bottom side Broughton Red Rose 36-10.

The Kells tries were scored by Adam Hodgson (2), Cameron Seeds (2), Martin O’Neil, Kevin Agnew, Scott Nichol and Kai Rutherford. O’Neil kicked two conversions.

For Red Rose, there were tries by Jonno Ritson and David Campbell. Jonty Bell kicked one conversion.

Flimby had to concede their cup tie in mid-week but, even with 11 players on the injured list, were prepared to travel to Aspatria for their weekend league game.

But it was still postponed – because there was no referee.
