Former Carlisle United assistant Davie Irons has today taken interim charge of Scottish League Two side Stenhousemuir after they sacked former Celtic Nation and Gretna striker Colin McMenamin.

Irons, who was most recently joint manager at Gretna 2008 alongside Andy Aitken, had previously managed the Warriors from 2010 until 2012.

In fact, McMenamin did play under Irons when the pair were both at Gretna.

"Davie will be well-known to Warriors supporters," Stenhousemuir chairman Iain McMenemy said in a club statement.

"He has a great affinity for the club and we are delighted that he has agreed to come in on an interim basis until a permanent manager is appointed.

"Davie will be supported in the role by the existing team of coaches and senior squad members."

Stenny's club statement adds Irons, 58, will take training tomorrow and will be in charge for the match against Brechin on Saturday.

Stenhousemuir are currently eighth in Scottish League Two.
