Cheltenham boss Michael Duff expects to come up against a player he tried to sign tomorrow.

Carlisle’s new loan striker Elias Sorensen has twice been a target for the Robins.

The Newcastle prospect will instead be in the Cumbrians’ squad to face Duff’s side.

The Cheltenham manager told Gloucestershire Live: “He [Sorensen] is a very good player and someone we were interested in both last January and in the summer.

"I think he might come into the [Carlisle] team and he’ll give them good legs and a real goal threat.”

Duff says it is too early to judge any team’s prospects in League Two and says he won’t be underestimating the Blues.

“Steven [Pressley] has brought in a lot of players and it’s definitely more his team now,” he said.

“They went to Swindon and it was nip and tuck, [Carlisle losing] 3-2, and Swindon are an excellent team.

“They went to Barnsley [last] week and beating a Championship team 3-0 away from home shows there’s quality in the group.

“I don’t think any manager is ever going to sit in front of you and say, ‘Today, this is going to be really easy’ because every team beats every team in League Two.

“There isn’t a 100 per cent record after three games and that tells you everything about the league.”

Duff has a number of selection concerns as he hopes Chris Clements and Alex Addai return from illness.

Addai also has a groin injury. Chris Hussey is close to a return but Reuben Reid and Will Boyle are out while Rohan Ince is suspended.

Cheltenham have won one, drawn one and lost one in League Two so far.
