Three Carlisle United players are edging their way back to availability after injury, Rob Elliot says.
Kenton Richardson, Callum Whelan and Elliot Embleton look set to be the next players back from the sidelines.
All three are among the players to have had an injury-hit start to the 2026/27 season.
There is no guarantee the trio will return for this Saturday’s clash with Southend United, but they should be available to Elliot soon.
Former Gateshead defender Richardson has been limited to one substitute appearance at the start of his Carlisle career, and he sat out another game at Boreham Wood last Saturday.
“Kenton's probably the nearest, and we'll see how he is,” said Elliot.
“He's been training a little bit.
“Whelo and Embo as well have been training a little bit, so we'll see how they are.
“It might be too soon for Whelo and Embo for Southend, but they are in and around it, so we'll see how the next week goes.”
Whelan suffered a hamstring injury early in the season and has missed United’s last five games, while Embleton is yet to figure this campaign thanks to a calf problem.
Other players still sidelined at Brunton Park include Luke Armstrong, Bevis Mugabi and Harvey Macadam.
