Carlisle United fans gave us their views on X after the 1-1 draw at Wealdstone - here's a selection of their comments.
It was disappointing. We ALL were disappointed. A fantastic free-kick was the difference. Desbois, again, made some great saves. There is a good team in there...but we have to find the key. Once found it has to go on a very long winning run. (@BruceVander)
One win from that opening set of four fixtures is poor, needs huge improvement and quickly if we're serious about challenging for promotion. Also think there's one or two players who really need to up their performances or ship out. (@leerooney)
Adam Desbois aside, we are a shadow of ourselves compared to last season and we are some distance from being promotion candidates, being humbled by Wealdstone is our new level, the Carlisle supporters deserve so much more! (@MarkWard18)
Very poor first half, bit better second. Need a striker who can score - Kelly doesn't look like it. 5pts a poor return from a relatively easy start. 4 very tough games next. We could be 10 points adrift after those, and top spot getting out of reach. (@MikeEwins)
To have any hope of winning this league we have to be more ruthless when we get the chance and be winning those games. 2 points dropped (@cufccraig1983)
Poor apart from a 20 minute spell in the second half. AD literally saved us tonight. Well done Wealdstone. Fully deserved point and could have had 3. (@scholes_peter)
Wealdstone deserved a point and that’s the worrying point, a massive improvement in every department is required, let’s face it if it wasn’t for Desbois may have lost the game (@matty017)
If this doesn’t highlight that we need a striker then I don’t know what else does. Willing to be patient with the rest of the team, apart from Wearne who has to be worst finisher I’ve ever seen (@Dave_McMillan88)
Unacceptable level of performance. (@buzzisbackCUFC)
Really really poor. I keep hearing the phrase “work in progress” but where’s the progress? Shakier at the back than last season, powder puff in midfield, lightweight up top and a manager who looks panicked & out of his depth already. Way off it against really poor teams so far. (@PeteMcCormick6)
It is what it is. I just hope Elliot doesn't hide his head in the sand and works at building a functioning team in time for Monday. (@Libraise)
A tough watch but It is what we are now, spent fortunes to turn ourselves into a play off chasing National League team. Not too long ago our manager was crediting the likes of Derby & Reading after they'd taken points from us now we hear it about Worthing & Wealdstone. Gutting demise (@rossthomson277)
Piataks continue to get it wrong on the pitch. As much as the previous ownership were bemoaned, this is the worst consistent set of results and talent identification I’ve ever known. (@__adamwilson)
Poor, awful start to the season! Next 4 games are huge, can't be missing the 2 chances Wearne did neither (@calummackay9257)
Not convinced (yet) I feel like we are not on it yet compared to last season (@barry_maxey)
Disappointing performance. We didn’t move the ball quick enough and were looking to go backwards rather than forwards more often than not. Desbois pulled off at least one worldy again and the two chances Wearne missed cost us 3 points (@Wisey6575)
Got no less than we deserved. Our flair players missing in action for most of the game didn't help. Good to have Luamba back, who looked lively. Slickest football on offer was the pitch. (@JHallHDI)
Like when you go to one of those local village things in aid of charity and you spend £20 on raffle tickets, only because it's for charity and you wait all night to win and finally, when you do, it's the [rubbish] bottle of wine you gave them for the bloody raffle. Worse than that. (@1StevieKilner)
Bunker rescued a point probably undeservedly a couple of weeks ago that’s football for you. But Wealdstone were the better team tonight (@LeeGraham1984)
We need to get the chequebook out asap (@rhyswjenkins1)
He needs to win some games very quickly, think there’s a few coaches under pressure already in this league and he's one of them (@keithelliott94)
Buy us a striker - oh n to the so called fans? If u can't support the club when they lose or draw. Don't support us when we win (@bruntonblue10)
Brad Nicholson isn’t the answer (@BazBtee)
I honestly think we're a million miles away from being challengers. Defence has me on edge every time the opposition attacks, bit like last 4 seasons (@motehill1)
