Carlisle United drew 1-1 at Wealdstone – so how did we rate the players at Grosvenor Vale?
ADAM DESBOIS – 7
In conditions that were tricky at times, Desbois stood firm with some good first-half saves and excellent reflexes again late on – but could only watch as Wealdstone levelled.
TOBY MULLARKEY – 6
A short-lived outing for the defender, who lasted 20 minutes before going down injured and being replaced by Feeney. United will hope it’s not a serious problem.
BRAD NICHOLSON – 6
Was in the right place with some good last-ditch work. Carlisle’s defence seldom looks totally watertight just now, but Nicholson was largely steady.
RYAN GALVIN – 6
Grew into the game after a tentative start, and made some good attacking contributions in the second half as Carlisle tried but failed to seal it.
LEO DURU – 6
Did a solid defensive job as Wealdstone tried to advance down the left. Opportunities to attack were few but Duru put in a good, committed shift.
MIGUEL AZEEZ – 5
Caught on ball early on, then sharpened up and covered good ground in midfield in the defensive effort. But United were not cohesive enough and Azeez’s late foul proved costly.
JACK ELLIS – 6
Ellis was a good presence and link man in Carlisle’s better spells after the break, but United’s overall play lacked composure and control, in midfield and elsewhere.
HARVEY BUNKER – 5
No heroics this time from Bunker, who was involved in the move for Ajiboye’s goal but did not particularly impact the game otherwise in his advanced midfield role.
DAVID AJIBOYE – 6
It wasn’t a fluent performance by Carlisle or their attackers, and Ajiboye struggled to get going in general. But showed good timing and finishing to put Blues in front.
REGAN LINNEY – 5
Linney was persistent in his efforts to test the right side of Wealdstone’s defence. But he couldn’t get a good enough glimpse of goal and his efforts were well short of his best.
GEORGIE KELLY – 5
Shoulders so much of United’s attacking burden, did so with his usual strength and will here, and smoothly set up Ajiboye's goal. But better finishing from Kelly would have wrapped things up for the Blues.
Subs: Morgan Feeney. Some of the composure United needed. 7
Junior Luamba. Looked sharp on his overdue return. 6
Stephen Wearne. Missed great chances to seal it. 5
Josh Williams. Lively addition down right. 7
Star man – Adam Desbois. Carlisle did not perform well enough for too long in this game and, when Wealdstone tested them, they were grateful that keeper Desbois was ready to make a number of good saves.
