WATH Brow Hornets got their National Conference League Premier Division campaign back on track with an impressive victory over West Bowling at Geil Park on Saturday.
After suffering defeat at Waterhead a week earlier, the Hornets responded in the manner expected, producing a committed and disciplined display in front of a healthy home crowd.
Ian Rooney's squad showed plenty of character throughout, matching their visitors physically while playing some attractive rugby with ball in hand.
Their defensive effort provided the foundation for success, with Wath Brow limiting opportunities and applying pressure across the field.
Owen McCartney opened the scoring for the home side, with further tries from Karl Dixon, Fran King, Josh McConnell and an impressive effort from Natty Dougan.
The victory was another indication of the strength emerging within the Hornets ranks, with several younger players once again making significant contributions alongside the club's experienced performers.
The result keeps the Hornets firmly in contention in the Premier Division and provides further encouragement as they continue to blend youth and experience in a squad that has shown considerable promise throughout the campaign.
