NATIONAL League club Brackley Town have confirmed former Barrow AFC boss Andy Whing as their new manager.
Whing returns to the National League, following a spell at Cumbrian rivals Barrow, where he was sacked in December, just 11 months into his reign, with the Bluebirds nearing the bottom of the table and winless in their last six matches.
Brackley Town's new boss returns to the National League with a strong track record in the division.
Whing previously led Solihull Moors to the National League play-off final in 2024, where they narrowly missed out on promotion after a penalty shootout defeat to Bromley.
During that same season, Whing also guided the Moors to the FA Trophy final at Wembley, yet again, lost out on penalties, this time against Gateshead.
The 40-year-old will take charge of his first match this weekend, with Brackley set to host Southend United on Saturday, February 21.
Speaking to Brackley Town's club media, Whing said: "I’m delighted to be here at this football club.
"I’m really looking forward to meeting everybody come Saturday and I think if anyone knows me, I wear my heart on my sleeve.
"I’m really passionate, I’m ambitious and I’m really looking forward to getting going and hopefully we can have a winning start on Saturday.”
Brackley have been without a manager since Gavin Cowan departed to take charge at Shrewsbury Town on January 29, with Gaz Dean stepping in as caretaker.
He oversaw a three-game unbeaten run, earning victory at Gateshead and draws away at Sutton United and at home to FC Halifax Town.
The Saints are now eight games without defeat, sit 15th in the Enterprise National League after a solid first campaign in the National League, and hold a six-point cushion above the relegation zone.
Mark Hughes' side will face Brackley Town in their final game of the National League season on April 25, at Brunton Park.
