Former Carlisle United manager Neil McDonald has been put in caretaker charge at Barrow AFC after boss Andy Whing was sacked.
McDonald, who recently returned to Holker Street for a third coaching spell, now takes interim control of the south Cumbrian club.
It follows Barrow's decision to axe head coach Whing and assistant Craig Pead, with the Bluebirds 18th in League Two.
Former Solihull Moors boss Whing had been in charge for just under a year, having been appointed in January.
McDonald, who was United's manager in 2006/07, looks set to be in the dugout for Barrow's trip to Gillingham on Saturday.
The decision to sack Whing follows a 3-0 home defeat to Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night, when ex-Blues striker Kristian Dennis was among the visitors' goalscorers.
Barrow are four points above the fourth-tier relegation zone.
McDonald, 60, recently joined Barrow after leaving National League club Hartlepool United in October.
On the decision to sack Whing and Pead, Barrow chairman Paul Hornby said in a statement: "This is not a decision we have taken lightly.
"After careful consideration, we feel that our current league position does not reflect the quality and the investment that has been put into the squad that we have assembled.
"We believe that making a change at this stage of the season gives us the best possible chance to begin climbing the league table.
"We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Andy and Craig for their hard work and commitment, and we wish them nothing but success in their future endeavours."
