Carlisle United's fellow Cumbrian League Two outfit Barrow AFC have sacked boss Stephen Clemence.
He has paid the price for a poor run of results which has seen the Bluebirds slide into relegation danger.
A 2-0 defeat at Swindon Town proved the final straw for the Barrow board, with Clemence's No2 Robbie Stockdale also leaving.
Barrow, who are 17th and eight points above the relegation zone, confirmed the news in a statement on Saturday night.
Chairman Paul Hornby said “Stephen came in over the Summer and we had high hopes to build on his considerable coaching ability and reputation.
"We’ve built a strong squad of players together and enjoyed some memorable early success including our Carabao Cup exploits.
"Stephen has always conducted himself with great dignity and professionalism but unfortunately our recent extended run of poor results has led us to the decision that it was time to make a change.
"We would like to thank Stephen for his hard work and dedication to the club and wish him well for the future."
Barrow said they will provide updates on the process of finding a new head coach "in due course."
Former Gillingham boss Clemence was brought in last summer after the departure of previous manager Pete Wild.
Barrow made a bright start to the season and were top of the table by September 21, but have won just one of their last 15 games.
They sit ten points above bottom side Carlisle, whom they host at the SO Legal Stadium on Saturday, March 1, having lost the previous meeting 1-0 at Brunton Park on the second weekend of the season.
Their first game after Clemence will be a home clash with Grimsby Town next Saturday.
