BANTAM JOINS MAGPIES

Matty Platt, Bradford City’s former Barrow defender, has completed a League Two switch to Notts County.

The big centre-back has left Bradford after two years.

Richard Montague, recruitment lead at Notts, said: “Matty brings so many positive qualities but, perhaps most importantly, he’s one of the most dominant defenders in the league thanks to his incredible aerial presence, defensive instincts and determination to win first contacts and duels.”

DONS SNAP UP COUNTY ACE

Connor Lemonheigh-Evans has signed for MK Dons after leaving fourth-tier champions Stockport County.

The attacker has become MK’s first summer arrival.

“I felt like I needed to go somewhere where I had the best opportunity to achieve what I did last season,” he told his new club’s website. “I believe being here will give me the best chance to achieve another promotion.”

STANWAY’S BLUEBIRDS MOVE

Goalkeeper Wyll Stanway, younger brother of Lionesses star Georgia, is delighted to have made a move to home-town club Barrow.

He has signed for the managerless south Cumbrians after leaving National League North club Chester.

"I'm absolutely delighted to sign for my hometown club,” said Stanway. "You can see the direction the club is going, and I am excited to be a part of this."

PLAY-OFF WINNERS RELEASE SEVEN

Crawley Town have announced the departures of seven players after their promotion via the play-offs.

The Red Devils have let go Jed Brown, Travis Johnson, Tobi Omole, Florian Kastrati, Jayden Davis, Harry Ransom and Roshan Greensall.

Former Carlisle United man Adam Campbell is among those in negotiations over his future, the club have added.

INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR FRONTMAN

AFC Wimbledon striker Omar Bugiel is set for international action in the coming weeks.

He has been called up by Lebanon for their World Cup qualifiers against Palestine and Bangladesh.

The games take place on June 6 and 11 respectively in the preliminary joint qualification round two.

ROBINS VETERANS MOVE ON

Liam Sercombe and Sean Long have both joined the same club after leaving relegated Cheltenham Town.

The duo have dropped a further division to link up with Forest Green Rovers in the National League.

“It's a really exciting the challenge and a great opportunity to bounce back,” said Long of the move to Nailsworth, where former Robins boss Steve Cotterill is in charge.

DONNY STAR SET TO STAY

Luke Molyneux is reportedly set to turn down interest from other League Two clubs in order to remain at Doncaster Rovers.

The former Hartlepool United man impressed in Donny’s run to the play-offs last season.

And despite interest from Gillingham and MK Dons, he is poised to remain in Yorkshire, reports Pete O’Rourke.

ALEX HITMAN JOINS GILLS

Crewe Alexandra frontman Elliott Nevitt has switched fourth-tier clubs.

He has signed for Gillingham after turning down a new deal with the Railwaymen.

New Gills boss Mark Bonner said of the striker: “"I’m excited to work with him. I have been impressed by his ambition and drive in the time we’ve spent together, and in his actions to be joining us."

SADDLERS NO2 STAYS ON BOARD

Gary Waddock is remaining at Walsall after agreeing a new deal as their assistant manager.

The experienced Waddock, who was once a Carlisle United managerial contender, has signed two-year terms as Mat Sadler’s No2.

““We had a decent season last year so we want to build on that and I’m pleased that the head coach and everybody else wants me to stay for another two years,” he told Walsall’s website.

NON-LEAGUE STAR IN DEMAND

Swindon Town, Doncaster Rovers and Newport County are all eyeing Boston United defender Jai Rowe.

The72 claim the 22-year-old is in the trio’s sights after an impressive season with the Pilgrims.

Rowe helped Boston to promotion to the National League last season.
