Cumbrian striker Ryan Bowman has been released by League One club Shrewsbury Town.

The experienced Carlisle-born forward is among the players to depart the Shrews at the end of the third-tier season.

Bowman has been with Shrewsbury for the last three seasons but has not been offered new terms after the 2023/24 campaign.

The 32-year-old moves on having scored 22 goals in 135 appearances for the Croud Meadow club.

Shrewsbury were quick to confirm their retained and released list after their last game of the campaign, a 3-1 home defeat to Leyton Orient, saw them finish 19th in the third tier table.

Bowman was among eight first-team players released by manager Paul Hurst, with Harry Burgoyne, Tom Flanagan, Tunmise Sobowale, Elliott Bennett, Tom Bayliss, Rayhaan Tulloch and Aiden O'Brien also departing Salop.

It sees Bowman now looking to further his career elsewhere, after previous spells with Exeter City, Motherwell, Gateshead, Torquay United, York City, Hereford and Darlington.

The striker, who grew up in the Yewdale area of the Carlisle and went to St Aidan's School, came through the youth ranks at Brunton Park and earned a professional deal before being released in 2011.
