Carlisle United fans gave us their views on social media platform X after the impressive 3-1 win at Peterborough United - here's a selection of their comments.

We follow this team home and away. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. We win together we lose together!! It's been a slog this season so let's enjoy this win!! Super Jon Mellish!!! (@cumbrianbluess)

So many positives: a win at last in the fruit salad; Jon Mellish achieves sainthood; and Georgie Kelly shows what the team has been missing without a target man. But...without a good shift on Monday it won't represent a corner turned. UTB! (@JHallHDI)

A bit of pride restored and a small step on the way to a better season next year. But got to keep it up. Hopefully a turning point. (@Blencath007)

Fantastic result, unexpected and very welcome. Possibly affected by Wembley visit for them. But once held out for 1/2 hour knew it was on. 3-0 with zero pressure by us incredible. We took every chance. Pen bottled by ref. Clear and obvious pen not given (@McCarlisle1)

Best performance since Bolton away. Dominant in midfield until they scored. Nearly always won the second ball. Some great passing moves. Keep playing like that, and we might get ahead of Fleetwood. Not finishing last would be very good for team and fans' morale. (@MikeEwins)

Superb today. Stuck to the job, especially when they got a goal back and looked dangerous. Like the look of Kelly when he came on (@sbdownie)

Credit where credit’s due, a superb all round team performance. Mellish inspirational. Gibbo gives the opposition problems. Midfield immense. The short cameo of Kelly with Armstrong up top looked promising. Simmo can at last enjoy his Saturday night (@Wisey6575)

Up there with Bolton. Work rate and ability when we had possession. Armstrong's work rate is incredible. Mellish superb and has deserved that. Really like the look of Kelly too, and Gibson and Ellis good (@parkinsonross)

Nice for Lavelle, Simmo and of course Mells to have a week off from the haters…..at least til Monday anyways. Up the fruit salad!! (@Invisiblebear84)

Mells will get the plaudits and rightly so but Lavelle and Armstrong were immense today. (@spendercufc)

Unbeaten in TWO Them Posh boys couldn't match super Jon, they'll know they've been Mellished. He covered every blade. (@LindaNi121202)

I thought there was more chance of a legit royal pic than a Mellish hat trick! (@fatflags)

You can thank me for the victory - was at work today, got called away from iFollow for the first goal, saw the second goal but got called away for the third. You’re welcome (@MikeReid13)

Gibson defending told me everything I needed to know about his attitude. I saw him tracking back regularly and thought GAME ON! Mellish outstanding (@Cmartin992)

I see the future. You don’t score hat-tricks plugging holes in a back four. Free St. Jon (@NotInSeddon)

Signs that the team is starting to come good, a little late, unfortunately, but encouraging for next season. Some good performances from individuals and Jon Mellish stands out. Simmo got his game plan right, we must build on this performance. (@peterjo91525330)

Jon has always given everything, his commitment on the field has never been in question. He is not a great defender, not great skills along with many consistency has not been great, but given the chance he always give it all. Today was just rewards for a good performance. (@Dougmacd9826)

We must give thanks to the one true Lord and saviour - Jon James Alexander Mellish (@Nick_Brown86)

A big smile on a match day says it all, well done lads (@matty017)
