Carlisle United fans gave us their reaction on social media platform X after the 3-2 defeat at Charlton Athletic - here's a selection of their comments.

Same old story. We worked hard, but quality let us down. As for the future, Simmo has to decide whether to have a major clear out or keep some who will do a good job at Lge 2, but will have to go at the end of next year if we make it back up. (@BruceVander)

Still in it until the end. Not said that much since Christmas tbh. (@JHallHDI)

It’s another defeat, nothing more nothing less (@keithelliott94)

A spirited performance after last week, we actually looked the better team first half and deservedly took the lead, lots of positives as we look to build a team for League 2. Utb’s. (@BrendanRogers69)

Holy made numerous mistakes and was rightly dropped. What's the difference for Lavelle? He has made numerous mistakes, on par with Holy. He needs to be dropped. (@carlisl9125)

Better performance, we were both unlucky and sloppy, we should have had a point at least from the game. The jury is out as far as I am concerned with Lewis, he is a good shot stopper but is inclined to be rooted to the goal line which is very alarming. (@peterjo91525330)

The football is a tough watch, occasionally we move the ball quickly and give the opposition something to think about but more often we just hump it forward and hope for the best. Lavelle has become a liability but he is just one of a number of issues. Simmo must hate Gibbo (@Wisey6575)

We were every bit as good as Charton but the priority for next year got to be 4 new defenders (GeoffRo39583097)

A bit of an improvement showing. We are now starting to look like a decent mid table league 2 team (@Glass942)

Green shoots starting to show… vast improvement. sloppy mistakes cost us, which can be stamped out. I think we’ll continue the story on Tuesday… and win! (@dawsonna)

We are slowly looking like a team. But we still got beat. Poor Lavelle needs a rest please (@MartinCrellin1)

Fans Championship level, team about L2 mid-table level. (@MikeEwins)

I hate this word. Plucky. (@BobbyIrving74)
