Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens has been hit with a touchline ban ahead of their clash with Carlisle United.

The manager of United's opponents will not be in the dugout this weekend after being sanctioned.

Wellens was sent off in the January 20 game after clashing with a Bolton Wanderers' player.

He has now been banned from the touchline for three games and also fined.

The Football Association confirmed his punishment today.

In a statement, the FA said: "Richie Wellens, Leyton Orient’s Head Coach, has been given a three-match touchline ban and £2,000 fine for misconduct at their EFL League One game on Saturday 20 January against Bolton Wanderers.

"The manager admitted that he acted improperly during the 81st minute, which led to his dismissal, and also by remaining in an area where he could directly view the rest of the game after being sent off.

"An independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing."

Wellens, in the 81st minute of Orient's win over Bolton, was sent off after stopping a visiting player from taking a quick throw-in.

Angry scenes followed which also saw Bolton No2 Peter Atherton yellow-carded.

Orient sit tenth in League One as they prepare to take on Paul Simpson's second-bottom Blues.
