WE shared the news that Carlisle United star Owen Moxon completed a move to League One leaders Portsmouth.

The deal for the midfielder has been confirmed by the clubs on transfer deadline day.

Portsmouth have paid the Cumbrians an undisclosed fee for the 26-year-old and handed him a three-and-a-half year deal.

Here's what our readers said.

Colin Docker said: "All the best Owen," and Anthony Stevenson said: "Great player who was outstanding last season. Thanks for all he has done for the team and we must wish him all the best."

Louise Winrow said it was a 'fantastic opportunity', and one web user said: "Well played sir, always welcome back at Carlisle United. Good fortunes with your career."

Another added: "All the best for the future Mox, thanks for your efforts."

Another web user commented: "Congratulations and good luck Mox. Wishing you all the best on your onward journey. Show and teach the southerners the Carlisle way. May the generations of the future speak of you in remembering your talent."

United said it was in the club's best interests to allow Moxon to leave and secure a fee rather than see him leave for nothing when his contract ran out in the summer.

Manager Paul Simpson, speaking on the club website, said: “With the situation we’re in with Owen saying he wasn’t prepared to sign a new contract, we felt it was best for all parties that he moves on now.
