Carlisle United fans gave us their views on social media platform X after the 2-1 win over Port Vale - here's a selection of their comments.

We played some really good stuff at times today. We’re clearly a fragile team confidence-wise, but we looked to have some belief for the first time in ages. If we’re going to survive, it’s going to be about building on these performances and putting wins together. (@lewisrids3)

Played very well today, the worry with this team is when we go a goal down the heads go down as we haven’t got loads of goals in us but today they kept going and got a very well deserved win, now need to back it up with a win against Exeter in another massive game. (@Reay78)

A huge win and fully deserved. Team looked like they had more energy from the go today. Must try and build on this. Thought everyone played well, but no coincidence that Moxon had his best game for a long time and the team looked far better for it. Keep the faith! (@BenJoseph0157)

Better performance, less fear and more commitment. But it's consistency that is needed, performances over more games, we have played well but then fell at the next game, we should have belief, should commit and believe in ourselves more. Hopefully we shall see at Exeter, well done lads (@Dougmcd9826)

Fantastic 3 points. Real confidence boost, we controlled the game for large spells and we needed that after recent performances. (@RonnieSmith1964)

Great spirit to come back as it would have been easy to let heads drop after playing so well first half and conceding the usual opening goal. Great to see Gibson playing and doing so well. Up the Blues and roll on Exeter. (@krisfoster)

Critical. Well deserved. Wing-backs and Barclay very good. Brilliant way to win a game. (@Blencath007)

Spirited and big-hearted performances from everyone! The season is far from over, and I've every confidence that we'll start to accumulate the points we need to ensure safety. (@cufcfanvote)

With a finisher or two (Garner and Maguire were wasteful) we could have won that game 4-1. Simmo is inching towards a style of play which, with reinforcements, could keep us up. (@JHallHDI)

Wasn't a weak player out there today. All were superb. Especially Robinson, Gibbo and even Emmanuel was a different player to the Wigan game. Mellish as always gives it everything and never gives up. Team performance deserved a win (@ken_sheahan)

Great win and performance! Would have been a hard one to take, had the Cumbrians not secured three points. Looked much more threatening up front compared to recent games (@CowellLes1975)

Brilliant from the off, some heart and passion, the midfielders dug in and played really well. Pleased big Jon got man of the match as he has been good for the last 2 months and hasn't really got the recognition. We restricted them to about 20 minutes after half time. (@dan25161467)

Good performance, switched off for their goal but we persevered and battled through. With the chances we had, that is what a clinical No.9 would have taken but I think with Armstrong coming in that will sort it out (@JoshuaMusgrave3)

Fantastic start to the New Year......played 1 won 1. What a difference a win makes. Got to be 'Win 1 more will follow...' We started slowly last season, (not this slow mind). New Year's Resolution: Be More Optimistic (@LindaNi121202)

Well deserved win made all the sweeter as it looked like it wasn’t going to happen. Emmanuel / Robinson / Garner all excellent (@Glass942)

More desire, passing and movement off the ball. Still defensive lapses are costing us. (@DPlim62)

Well deserved win, boys played some great football (@Paulgriff152000)
