Carlisle United’s Kai Nugent grabbed a goal in a high-scoring Scottish Cup clash for Annan Athletic on Saturday.
The teenage Blues loanee was on target for Peter Murphy’s side in a dramatic 5-4 defeat to Dumbarton.
Nugent’s second goal for Annan came early in the second half to reduce the home side’s two-goal interval deficit.
Annan went on to lead 3-2 but were pegged back by the visitors, taking things into extra-time as the Sons prevailed.
The third-round tie saw both Nugent and fellow Carlisle loanee Max Kilsby play the full game, 20-year-old Kilsby getting his 16th outing of the season and 18-year-old Nugent his eighth.
The young United players and Annan are next in action against Hamilton Academical in Scottish League One tomorrow night.
Their fellow Carlisle loanee, Jayden Harris, returned to the Eastleigh starting line-up for the latest game of his temporary spell away from Brunton Park.
Midfielder Harris played the full 90 minutes as the Spitfires went down 3-2 at leaders Chesterfield in the National League.
Eastleigh trailed 3-0 before staging a late fightback as Harris, 24, made the seventh appearance of his loan spell and his fifth start.
Next up for Harris and his team-mates is an FA Cup second round home clash with Reading next Sunday.
A number of ex-Blues were in the thick of the weekend action, meanwhile.
In the Championship, Jerry Yates’ goal put Swansea City 2-0 up before they were pegged back to a 2-2 draw at home to Hull City.
In League One, Cole Stockton scored at the wrong end as his own-goal featured in Burton Albion’s 4-0 defeat at Peterborough United.
Two ex-Blues scored in leaders’ Bolton Wanderers’ 7-0 rout of Exeter City with Jack Iredale opening the scoring before fit-again Kyle Dempsey added one late in the game.
