Paul Simpson has paid tribute to Carlisle United stalwart Andy Hall for his “outstanding” service to the club.

The long-serving media officer left his role at Brunton Park last week.

Hall and Simpson always had a close working relationship from both the manager’s spells in charge of the club.

Simpson said the media man, who was involved with the club for more than two decades, will be a miss.

“He was outstanding for the club,” said Simpson.

“It’s really sad that he’s made the decision to go, because I think we had a really good partnership with Andy and Amy [Nixon], the way they worked and with some fantastic stuff that they were producing.

“Unfortunately some good things have to come to an end and Andy’s chosen to move on.

“We wish him all the best. I’m quite sure he’ll be down here, as a supporter.

“He was a good servant to the club and he’s been through some really tough times.

“It’s just a bit of a shame he’s missed out on probably the biggest story the football club’s had for many a year.”

Hall’s departure came days before the Piatak takeover.

Carlisle have since advertised for a new head of media and marketing.
