CARLISLE United manager Paul Simpson has said there will be no time for 'pleasantries' with former Blues man John-Kymani Gordon before the clash with Cambridge.

The 20-year-old striker joined Carlisle on loan for the latter half of last season and started, and almost scored for the Blues in their League Two play-off final against Stockport County at Wembley in May.

Simpson had suggested early in the summer window that there was some interest in re-signing Gordon from Crystal Palace but this soon cooled with the former Blues forward eventually linking up with Cambridge United.

Ahead of the re-union, Simpson demanded that his players be focused on the task at hand, with friendly greetings reserved for after the job is completed.

He said: "He is a good player but I also worked with a fellow there called Saikou Janneh and James Brophy is a good forward player.

"They have got some talented lads there and we have got to make sure we stop their threats.

"If we have won the game I will gladly shake JK's hand and wish him all the best for the season but it is about us performing.

"We are not going there to be all matey-matey. We are going there to be a game of football and then we can have pleasantries after. "
