A karate club from Cumberland marked its 48th annual championships with a 'very successful' event last weekend.

On Sunday, October 15 at Penrith Leisure Centre, members of the seven Cumberland-based Chojinkai Karate Clubs competed in front of a large crowd at the 48th Chojinkai Cup Annual Championships. 

Organised by the Chojinkai Karate founder & chief Instructor Doug James 9th Dan, the event saw 150 students from the seven clubs participate in over 55 categories.

Mark said: "I am really pleased with the results & all the hard work the students have put in preparing for our Association Annual Championships has paid off. Eight Gold, five silver and eight bronzes were also won by students from my Wigton & Penrith Clubs, so overall we had a very successful day."
