WORKINGTON Town fans are being encouraged to nominate their player of the year ahead of the club’s awards night - after a glowing season on and off the pitch.

Here at the Times & Star we want to recognise players that have made an impact on our readership and provided entertainment for fans throughout the year through the Newsquest Times & Star Player of the Year award.

We are now calling on Town fans to nominate their ‘player of the year’ to be recognised at the presentation night, with voting closing Friday, September 22.

Here is your shortlist:

Jordan Burns

Ex-Whitehaven favourite returned to the pro ranks and produced an excellent season, a strong communicator and a huge threat from fullback saw him return 10 tries and a contract extension keeping him at Town until the end of 2024 at least.

Ciaran Walker

Walker stepped out of the shadows and into the limelight when injury struck Carl Forber before the season got going. Taking on the responsibility of the attacking side as well as being committed in defence saw Ciaran Walker grow as a player, with 12 tries due to his elusive running and strong short kicking game he has made the standoff role his own.

 Matty Henson

Talisman hooker Henson produced another strong campaign as the starting 9, strong in defence, a constant threat near the line and with strong distribution from dummy half Henson has again been top performers with 10 tries to his name despite injuries affecting him towards the end of the season.

 Sean Sabutey

Aussie star Sean Sabutey was a constant threat from day 1 and excelled with 5 tries in the away win to Midlands Hurricanes, a regular scorer finishing top try scorer with 17 touchdowns. Strong under the high ball, Sean's debut season in the UK has been a good one.

 Jake Bradley

2nd row Jake joined mid-season and became an immediate fans favourite with his hard-hitting defence, strong carries, and all-round threat from 2nd row. Still very young and under contract until end of 2024 Jake has excelled with regular game time, Whitehaven loss is clearly a huge gain for Town.
