Cumbrian stars James Trafford and Jarrad Branthwaite have been named in the latest England Under-21 squad.

And they have been joined by Liam Delap, son of former Carlisle United favourite Rory.

The trio are part of Lee Carsley's squad for this month's European Championships qualifier against Luxembourg.

Both Trafford and Branthwaite helped England win the Euros this summer, with Burnley goalkeeper Trafford playing a starring role in the tournament.

The Greysouthen star, 20, did not concede a single goal - and dramatically saved a last-minute penalty against Spain as England won the final 1-0.

Everton defender Branthwaite, from Wigton, made one appearance in the tournament, getting his U21 debut in the group stage victory over Germany.

The 21-year-old will now hope to get further opportunities under Carsley.

Manchester City striker Delap, meanwhile, has played for England at a number of age group levels and the 20-year-old Hull City loanee now gets his U21 chance.

They are joined in a 23-man squad by players such as Manchester City's Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Liverpool's Harvey Elliott, Southampton's Sam Edozie and Chelsea's new signing from Man City, Cole Palmer.

England take on Luxembourg in an away clash on Monday, September 11.
