A six-race card at Carlisle Racecourse gets under way at 2.05pm today.

The action kicks off with a nine-runner handicap for horses aged four and above.

Lechro looks to have the potential to back up a recent handicap win at Beverley 22 days ago and is visored for the first time here.

Lechro is preferred to Flying Moon, who is winless in 12 starts and finished fifth at Hamilton last time out, though is off a very fair mark here and could be worth chancing.

Race two is a five furlong sprint for the two-year-old’s and powerhouse trainer William Haggas sends the highly-promising Summit to Carlisle.

She was second of nine in a minor race at Newmarket last month and shaped well enough to look to be the one to beat in her third racetrack appearance.

The third race on the card is another sprint over the 5f distance, this time for horses with a year's more experience than the ones in the previous race.

Elusive Angel steps into handicap company for the first time and is marginally preferred to course winner Mersea, who has been well-treated by the handicapper.

Race four is the feature on the card for the day, with £6,750 going to the winner of the Class 5 handicap over 5f.

Sidney’s Son should be there or thereabouts in this one as he is more exposed than some of the horses he’ll be taking on. One of those is Back Tomorrow, a strong second in a maiden at Bath a fortnight ago but was very keen, so should come on for that run here.

The penultimate race of the afternoon at 4.20 sees the return of a couple of course and distance winners looking to bid for more success at Carlisle. One of those is Poet’s Magic, second last time out but a winner here last season.

Another is Redana, also a previous Carlisle winner but a runner who has struggled this season. Mobashr has placed in four of his five last runs and looks the one to beat.

Rounding off the card at Carlisle is a 6f sprint, where Mister Sox is down in trip and could go well, having finished second and third in his last two runs. The ultra-consistent Fortuitous Star looks set to provide stern opposition, having placed in five of the last six runs for the grant Tuer yard.
