Paul Simpson plans to revisit Carlisle United's next transfer targets this week.

The Blues boss parked his pursuit of more players in the latter stages of the build-up to the opening league game.

But Simpson, who is chasing a new forward and a goalkeeper, will have the issue back on his agenda.

United's boss is discussing the situation with head of recruitment Greg Abbott.

"When nothing had happened by Wednesday I told him [Abbott] I didn’t want to be distracted for this game," said Simpson after the 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town.

"He’s been working away in the background doing what he needs to do.

"We’ll speak Sunday, get back together Monday, and we’ll do what needs to be done.

"There’s not a lot of room in terms of finances to do a hell of a lot. But we’ll wait and see what we can do."

Simpson had teenager Gabe Breeze on the bench on Saturday after his attempts to sign another senior keeper were held up.

A delay in one of his targets' contract situation at his parent club was cited for a hold-up.

Carlisle's boss said he is still interested in that particular player, but stressed the club have other options.

He wants another gloveman to join in order to put pressure on first-choice Tomas Holy.

United's manager also said last week he was keen to add another frontman to improve Carlisle's goal threat.

He suggested he had a particular loan target in mind.
