Carlisle United defender Max Kilsby has rejoined Annan Athletic on loan.

The 19-year-old, who starred for Peter Murphy's side last season, has rejoined them on the eve of the Scottish League Two campaign.

Kilsby has linked up with the Galabank club in a half-season deal which runs until January.

It means the left-sided player can be involved for Murphy's side in their league opener at Falkirk on Saturday.

Kilsby enjoyed a memorable campaign with Annan last term.

The young defender got regular first-team football in Murphy's defence.

And he played a key part in their promotion, scoring twice in their play-off final victory over Clyde.

He made 31 league appearances under Murphy and can now aim to help Annan make a successful step up to Scotland's third tier, a level they have reached for the first time in their history.

Blues boss Paul Simpson told the club website: “Murph was keen to have him back after the success they enjoyed last year.

“We’re delighted with how he’s developing and more than happy for him to go back up there to continue that good work.

“We’ll monitor his progress and review it in January.”

Annan said they were "delighted" to have Kilsby back.
