The son of a former Carlisle United manager will be facing the Blues in the new League One season.

Aaron Pressley, whose dad Steven was in charge at Brunton Park in 2019, has joined fellow promoted club Stevenage.

The 21-year-old striker has joined Steve Evans' squad on a two-year deal with an option for a further year.

Stevenage have paid Brentford an undisclosed compensation fee for the big forward's services.

Pressley, previously on Aston Villa's youth books, has been with Brentford since 2020 and has enjoyed loan spells with AFC Wimbledon and Accrington Stanley in League One.

Steven Pressley was United's manager from January 2019 to November 2019.

Pressley junior is not the only son of an ex-Carlisle manager making his way in the game.

John Sheridan's son Jay has played for Oldham Athletic and Chesterfield.

Paul Simpson's sons Joe and Jake are also in the professional game, Joe as a match official and Jake as head of performance at Stockport County.
