Carlisle United teenager Jake Allan did not look out of place in his big first-team chance.

That’s the verdict of assistant manager, who said the youth team player did himself justice in his senior outing this week.

Allan was among the players who came off the bench in the second half of the 1-1 draw at Chorley.

The second-year youth team player got his chance at a time manager Paul Simpson gave some senior defenders the evening off.

Allan came on at right wing-back in place of Jack Ellis and produced a bright and energetic display in the closing 25 minutes.

The 17-year-old has come through United’s academy and is among the youth players who have trained with the Blues’ first team in pre-season.

“He’s trained a couple of times,” said Skelton.

“Credit to [the young players], any time they’ve trained with us they’ve all done themselves justice.

“He [Allan] has trained well and [against Chorley] didn’t look out of place which is really pleasing for him.”

Allan’s appearance comes after youth team forward Romeo Park also played in United’s first two friendlies, scoring in the 7-0 victory at Gretna 2008.

Allan was also on the bench in the Cumbrians’ opening friendly at Annan Athletic along with fellow youth players Aran Fitzpatrick and Robbie Swinburn, with Allan and Swinburn also in the squad at Gretna.
